The Maori Mere or Patu was the Maori warriors weapon of choice for hand to hand combat.

This is the Patu Onewa style of Patu - one of the more typical styles chosen by the Maori people. It features a flattened, elongated blade primarily designed for thrusting, with a sharp striking edge.
