So, It's been a long time coming, for me to start up a video tech blog. I tend to get carried away with the scope of the video projects I'd like to do, so much so that I end up not completing them.
I just had a silly little epiphany the other day: make my video blog like twitter. Frequent short snippets of random poi moves and ideas, with only a brief description of what it is and how I think about it or do it. That way when I do release the tutorial videos that I want to get out there, the body of fun examples for the ideas, will already be brewing.
They call twitter a "micro-blog", so Burning dan and I thought it would be funny to call my tech blog a "nano-tech blog"!
great man. took me a couple o watches to see whats goin on, even with you explaining it at the start! i should make some time for these - and of course theres got to be synch and same direction versions...

Cheers Jon, I liked that second one. You know...i never thought of using that under the arm, over the shoulder stuff to create a pattern. I've always used it as something to use on my way to something else. I'll go outside and give it a play if it ever warms up, this spinning with ski gloves on really sucks.
LOL, yeah I had my fill of cold winter growing up in Maine. I like equatorial ones much better now.
Concerning spinning in ski gloves: Sure it sucks but at least your hands are warm... how do you think your practice poi feel getting swung around all naked in the winter air?! You should put ski gloves on your poi too!
That would actually make for a kinda hilarious video!

It'd be harder and more clear without isolations by the way.
Anyway you shoud check out the discussion in "I'just learn a new move / combo thread", what the guys are talking about and give them a propper dirrection .
Yeah, thanks for catching my vagueness. I've been playing with these concepts in various forms starting in late 2006/2007, but realized I never got any good footage up.
In my haste, I wasn't clear enough and glommed some ideas together. With repeated linear extension one makes elliptical obits, but never a loop/momentary isolation. This is what is happening during the continuous linear extension weave.
What I'm calling a pulse accelerates out to an ellipse, but as it comes back in, your hand slows and the poi head over takes the hand into a loop or a moment of isolation. Rovo had some videos of basics from buzzsaw up on DMP in 2006, but was just calling them ellipses. Because of the moment of isolation, it is possible to turn your hands around a unit circle or closer-to-point iso center and pulse out in a different direction. I'm doing a sloppy job of it, but that is what is supposed to be happening with the fountain.
I'd now like to differentiate "pulse flowers" from other elliptical flowers Zan talks about.. The procession of the hands pulsing moves in a sequence that is equivalent to inspin, but you get pulses that look like long petals, and a small iso center... it looks a bit like a daisy.
-I'm interesteed in crosser-meltdown too .. -the first long/short arm 'form' is called sometimes - SA(straight arm, similar to SJ(double crosser, huggie..)) -Music please ?

Upon seeing the last thing in that video I exclaimed "WHAT THE " quite loudly. Also you helped me figure out a toss i'd been stumped by. Nice stuff, will steal.

regards,
The Music is an unreleased track by my younger brother called "Override". If you want a copy, I can ask him.
Somehow I though when people said "straight-arm" they just meant long-arm, I didn't realize they meant static spin vs long-arm.
As Rev would say first degee meltdown or meltdown with hands crossed so crosser if you like as simple as that. Thing I've been playing with this summer.
Just tell him that it's cool track and I like it ..
Also SJ meen "straight jacket" both old terms if I can say.
Man, I really wanna figure out those crosser extension variances you were doing. They look awesome. Is there any other basis I should work on for those besides the basic crosser extensions?
wow there is a empty cavity in my skull pan now cuz that blew my mind away
